€16,000 won by students in Croí Laighean Credit Union Bursary 2023

Croí Laighean Credit Union is delighted to announce the 2023 Pat Jones Student Bursary Awards recipients:

  • Vivienne Hevey-Rayh from Confey College is pursuing an Arts degree in History and English.
  • Ryan Ellis from Oaklands College in Edenderry aims to become a Primary School Teacher.

On Thursday, May 18, both winners received a prize of €6,000 to help with their 3rd Level of Education. All sixteen finalists also got a special delivery: a goodie box from Croí Laighean Credit Union, including gifts, treats, and €250 deposited into their credit union account.

Valerie Tyrell, Community Relations Officer at Croí Laighean Credit Union, personally visited both winners’ schools to present them with their prizes.

Ian Stewart, Head of Marketing, remarked on the tough decision-making process due to the exceptional applications this year. He praised the schools, teaching staff, and parents for their support.

“We had some exceptional applications this year; it really made the decision to choose the winners very difficult. The selection of Vivienne and Ryan wasn’t easy, but they impressed the judges. The credit union would like to thank all the applicants and wish them success in their Leaving Certificate exams.

The Pat Jones Student Bursary from Croí Laighean Credit Union has donated over €127,000 to local students in 11 years. It has significantly impacted the lives of recipients, enabling some to attend college and others to fully integrate into campus life.

This annual bursary is open to 6th Year students in the common bond area to help support third-level education. Additionally, Croí Laighean Credit Union offers student tips for money management and great-value student loans for those planning to attend college.
