Art Competition 2016

The winners of the 2016 Credit Union Art Competition were presented with their prizes at a ceremony in Croí Laighean Credit Union on Friday, October 28.

Hundreds of entries were received for the competition with the theme this year ‘Dreams are made of this’ ensuring both creative and imaginative entries from entrants as young as 6 years of age.

Eugene Kearney, Chairman of the CLCU Board of Directors commented ‘This is a fantastic competition and each year, we are always surprised at the quality of entries in each category. As part of the national Credit Union competition, I would like to take this opportunity to wish the winners every success in the regional stage of the competition and we look forward to displaying a selection of entries in the branch for all our Members to enjoy.’

Eugene presented the winner in each category with a €50 CLCU Account, with the runner -up receiving a €20 Account and 3rd prize receiving a €10 Account.

The 1st prize winners will represent CLCU at regional level and judging will take place by the end of November. If successful, the entries will then progress to the national competition, with the announcement of winners in early December.

3rd - Daniel O’ Brien, Rhode


14-17 Years inclusive

1st - Adam Sheehan, Broadford

2nd - Danielle Farrelly, Rhode

3rd - Leona Kennedy, Carbury

18 Years and Over

1st - Ava Busillet, Rhode





The 2016 Credit Union Art is now open for entries. Application forms are available in both our branches and forms have also been delivered to 14 primary schools and both secondary schools in the Common Bond Area. Alternatively, you can download our entry form here and return to the office by October 14.

The theme this year is ‘Dreams are made of this….’ and there are five age categories from Under 7 to 18 and over, in addition to a special category.
1st prize in each category is a €50 CLCU account with runner up prizes of €20 and €10 accounts.
The closing date for entries is Friday, October 14. All winners will be invited to a special prize giving ceremony here in CLCU on Friday, October 28.
